Re: Couple de serrage des roues
Bonsoir à tous,
J'ai découvert ce jour que les Aston Martin Vantage avaient avec des écrous de roues de 21mm ou de 22mm à serrer en deux passes :
* Première à 80 Nm
* Deuxième à 135 Nm pour les écrous de 22mm et 180 Nm pour les écrous de 21 mm

Bonjour, no Vincent for road cars it's not that easy.
Attention on the V8 Vantage there are different torque figures for the wheel studs
Depending on WHAT wheel studs you are using on your car the torque can be 135 Nm or 150 Nm or even 180 Nm !!!
Good advise is to read page 452 or 4-4-2 of the workshop manuel
or in the Owner-Manual page 12.5
ALL studs are fixed first with 80 Nm and after that to the right wheel nut torque.
You have to know that and if you bring your car to a wheel i.e. tire change always have a look at the mechanics fingers because most ( if not even all ) not acquainted to AM do not know the real torque and the real procedure.!!!!!!!
Regards
Harry

Re: Couple de serrage des roues
Hi Harry, I was just saying that the torque figures of the Vantage series don't worry me considering the ones on the GT4. Even, of course, if the wheels on the GT4 are OZ Racing

Re: Couple de serrage des roues
Hi Vince, understand but dont get me wrong.
There are a lot of people looking at a simple doctor as a demigod in white. Same here, most of the AM drivers are daily drivers and want to maintain their cars in the best possible shape. This even more regarding security features such as wheels. ( This is exactly the point why I dont unstand the continuos search for security items in " bon plan or pieces alternatives" )
As you can easily see from the questions and answers to that here, some owners are not really sure what to do. So if they read a statement of their President confirming values for wheel studs by citing Aston Martin Racing they might (and I am sure they do) believe in AMR as the above mentioned demigod even if its like in this case wrong. You know that wheel torque depends on a lot of factors as there are steel, aluminium, magnesium rims just to name some and a lot of different wheel nuts of multiple materials requiering different torques.
All of this needs an adaequate torque to be safe in riding and for the material.
This is why I brought a precise explanation to the knowledge of the forum, keeping in mind that Peter Lindner 's death in a Jaguar Lightweight at Monthlery in 1964 is presumed due to a crack of the aluminium / magnesium rim.
Regards
