The John Pope Special was built in 1973 using an Aston Martin DBSV8 engine modified by the engineering team at Newport Pagnell to achive 900 bhp. This engine was desgined for the Aston Martin Bulldog and used in the John Pope Special. The Engine, Transmission and running gear from an Aston Martin DBSV8 along with front chassis and suspension. The body was from a Vauxhall Magnum
