Aston Martin Works 60th Anniversary Vanquish revealed

Aston Martin has revealed a new Works 60th Anniversary Vanquish limited edition to celebrate six decades at the world-famous Newport Pagnell site in 2015
The special new Vanquish will be limited to just six units – and each will be dedicated to a car from each decade of Aston Martin’s history.
The firm isn’t doing this just by applying stickers, either. It’s actually fitting bespoke metal rotary controls to each of the six cars – using metal made from the pistons of a period Aston Martin.
Yes, really: a piston has been sourced from a relevant engine that’s been rebuilt or reworked during its life. It’s cast into the rotary controls that are then laser etched with Works’ Anniversary branding. How cool is that?
Aston Martin Works commercial director Paul Spires admits “sourcing pistons from the correct engine in the correct decades was, of course, no small feat” but, somehow, the firm has achieved it.
The period Aston Martins celebrated by the six new Works 60th Anniversary Vanquish are:
1955-1965 DB2/4 MkII saloon
1965-1975 DB5
1975-1985 V8 Coupe
1985-1995 V8 Vantage X-pack
1995-2005 V8 Vantage supercharged
2005-2015 original Vanquish
The launch car was revealed during Aston Martin Works’ Christmas celebration for customers and VIPs, and showcases the styling details to be worn by all six cars.
All of the special Vanquish models will boast Anniversary Yellow side strakes and alloy wheels, with complementary contrast yellow stitching inside. There are white/black duotone seat centre panels, a new type of heavy weave carbonfibre and, of course, Works Anniversary sill plaques.
Mechanically, they’ll be unchanged from the regular 6.0-litre V12 Vanquish (fitted with with the new ZF eight-speed automatic), and so boast a top speed of over 200mph and accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds.
Prices for the new Works 60th Anniversary Vanquish are strictly POA, but we hear buyers won’t be getting any change from a quarter of a million pounds.
The first car has, of course, already been built; the other five will be manufactured and delivered during the 2015 anniversary year, promises Aston Martin.
Aston Martin at Newport Pagnell
Newport Pagnell is the historic HQ of Aston Martin; between 1955 and 2007, 15,000 cars were built there. Today, it’s the home of Aston Martin Works, where enthusiasts can admire, purchase, service and restore cars.
The recent addition of a new car sales dealership means visitors can buy new Aston Martins from the firm’s famous home, although most service and restore classic models.
For good reason: it is a fully approved global heritage service and restoration facility.
