Rolex 24 car hits possum, crew discovers animal in trunk













DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Did a possum kill a Porsche? Andy Lally thinks so.



Lally’s Magnus Racing crew discovered a lifeless opossum within the trunk of his Porsche 911 GT America after the automotive was retired from the Rolex 24 due to an oil leak. Lally stated he felt a thump whereas driving at 5 a.m. Sunday, however didn’t understand he’d hit something till crew members opened the automotive’s entrance-mounted trunk and found the physique.


“It got here via the entrance finish of my automotive, by way of the bathtub, ripped by means of the rivets and ended up within the trunk,” Lally stated.


Lally, an animal rights activist, didn’t make it to the top of the 24-hour sports activities automotive race for the primary time in 15 years.

“Crew is fixing the automotive,” Lally tweeted. “They’ve posthumously named the opossum ‘Ballast’. Unhappy however I feel we should always put him again in to take the checker.”
